Campus libraries are reopening their doors for students.   Students are looking to access a wide variety of materials.   Campus libraries are transforming to accommodate new ways to teach and learn.  Since more students are returning to campus to learn, universities need to free up space in the main campus library for collaboration areas, quiet study rooms, presentation rooms, and new technology.  In order to do this,  libraries need to consolidate printed volumes from their library collections along with artwork and other items.

You may need to deploy creative ways when in comes to consolidating your books, art and other archived items.  Your library may need to have a large off-site facility that stores materials with different preservation requirements.   We can design a facility to maintain temperature and humidity levels in multiple separate environments.

ARTS AND ARTIFACTS AREA

For example, you may have an Arts and Artifact area.   These rooms are often kept at 65 degrees and 45% relative humidity. This area can house  a variety of three-dimensional objects from the college’s archives in Spacesaver high-density mobile shelving.  You can store hanging art on Spacesaver art racks.

HIGH-BAY AREA

The second possible area is the high bay area for things like books, journals and other items.   This area is often kept at 50 degrees and 30% relative humidity.  The  Spacesaver High-Bay Shelving system is great for storing books, journals, and other materials. The system was designed to optimize space from floor to ceiling and it integrates with fire safety sprinklers and ductwork for climate control.  An ActivRAC® Storage System can be used to store framed art and boxed materials in the same room as the high-bay shelving.

WORK AREAS

The third area is the Work Area.   This area provides places for faculty, staff, students, and visiting researchers to work. The study area, offices, and processing areas are kept at comfortable temperatures and humidity levels for the people working there.

Moving low-circulating volumes and valuable archival materials off-site will free up space in the main campus library for study rooms, meeting rooms, and more.
